The Doors of The Drowned Man
A Film Collaboration with Punchdrunk Theatre developing themes from their show The Drowned Man: A Hollywood Fable, the biggest and most ambitious production yet from the award-winning company that played its final performance on Sunday 6 July 2014.
Set amidst the fading glamour of 1960s Los Angeles, The Drowned Man explored the darkest edges of Golden Age Hollywood, where celluloid fantasy meets a desperate reality that dissolves into a hallucinatory world.
This immersive theatrical adventure has played to over 170,000 people, each of whom have undergone a unique personal journey that unfolded across four levels of a central London sorting office transformed into a vast, 1960s movie studio complex – Temple Studios.
The film was made as part of a series of collaborative commissions which invited artists from a range of disciplines to make work that responded to themes from the show.
